Overview

In working with the parents I am able to address systemic issues that may be contributing to their child's emotional struggles. While the individual psychotherapy with the adolescent helps immensely; it is essential that the parents' own challenges are addressed in treatment. My work with parents focuses on helping them understand the power they have to support their child. Parents have immense power and influence over the emotional wellbeing of their child. Learning how to use that power effectively allows for a much more successful outcome to treatment.
Parent Support

In working with parents, my primary goal is to provide them with the support and tools they need to assist in meeting the emotional, psychological, and behavioral needs of their child. My work promotes a better understanding of the family system and how to create a stable, secure, and adaptable environment that meets the ever changing needs of all within that system.

The Parent Support component of treatment includes:

- Weekly consultation with the parents.
- Parenting Education and Coaching
- Conjoint sessions as needed with parent(s) and child to
facilitate effective communication and conflict resolution.
- Couples/Co-Parent Counseling to ensure consistency in
parenting (rules, limits, consequences, etc..) and address
potential or existing couple's issues that are affecting
their child's emotional well being.
